What is Reiki?
Japanese healing art that promotes the body to engage its inner resources and stimulate balance.
Reiki is a non-manipulative, and gentle touch that helps a client get into a deep state of relaxation.
When the body is relaxed, the levels of cortisol and adrenaline decrease, and it is easy for the client's body to relax and focus on self-healing.
During the session, the client is fully clothed, laying on a massage table.
Reiki sessions can be targeted to specific areas if you have a particular issue.

Benefits of Reiki
  • Increasing relaxation and focus
  • Mitigating side effects of medication
  • Relieving and managing pain
  • Reducing anxiety, stress, and worry
  • Bringing about a sense of peace and wellbeing
  • Connecting with your inner wisdom and creativity
  • Mitigating side effects from cancer treatments
  • Improving blood pressure
  • Strengthening the immune system
  • Supporting and nurturing the body during pregnancy and postpartum times
  • Speeding up the body's healing process
  • Getting clarity
  • Relieving insomnia

How many sessions are recommended?
Just one session can change be a great support and boost of energy.
Reiki is cumulative, so it can be beneficial to receive a series of sessions to get more lasting results.
Typically, clients come weekly for one month and then begin to space out sessions to bi-weekly and then monthly.

Roxanne Caines-Thomas

Roxanne Caines-Thomas is a licensed and nationally certified acupuncturist. She is a graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York with extensive knowledge of acupuncture, herbs, and various treatment modalities, that include but are not limited to:
     •  the use of acupuncture needles
     •  cupping
     •  moxibustion

In the past twelve years her clinical experience has exposed her to diverse populations of patients in the Philadelphia section of Pennsylvania, where she has honed her skills in orthopedic and physical therapy care, treating people with motor vehicle and work related accidents.

Her externship at the Initiative for Women with Disabilities in New York, emboldened her ability to address the unique concerns of a marginalized community of women with physical and emotional concerns. Those being anything from heart disease, menopausal symptoms, to the stressors associated with working mothers. Roxanne has also had the pleasure of working in the community acupuncture setting, at an externship for drug detoxification at the Fortune Society in New York. Here she was part of a team that valued providing a safe place, where dignity is as much a priority as the therapy administered. It is within the prism of this experience that she strives to be her patient's ally in their goal for optimal healthcare.

Roxanne Caines-Thomas currently resides in Montgomery county, where she is the proud mother of three beautiful children and a golden collie named Benji. She is an avid fan of all things sci-fi and in her spare time a novice student of muay thai kickboxing.
